Equally I respect and understand your position. Had the Bishop been slightly over the limit I assume she would not have resigned. Three times over the limit as reported made it a different
matter.

Undoubtedly attitudes to drinking and driving have changed over the past 20 years.

In an ideal world education would be sufficient but we don't yet live in an ideal world.

Jim

Jim :

Of course, I do understand 100 % your point of view and I respect it.
Nevergeless, inside all the readers of so many wine blogs, we have to be honest : who did never drive from an evening, back home, slowly, with certainly a alcool rate over the legal limit ? Most
probably every of us.
And most probably it will happen again.
Does it means we ra unconscious or simply that we are not yet educated in this matter like for the security belt which takes around more than 10 years to be understood by everybody ?
And what about the very old generation (over 80) who is still driving fully unsecured since they have basically lost their reflexes ?
Please understand what I want : I am not against a law limiting alcool absoprtion. I am against all decision which are based on punihsment instead on education… which takes time.
More and more, our way of living is now under"legal construction". More and more, we are going to a roman civilization : du pain et des jeux. I hate it.

Sorry but driving your car while well over the limit takes this out of 'sa sphère privée' and puts it squarely back in the public domain. Fortunately there was no accident. However, I agree that
this is different from the systematic fraud practised around Limoux and Carcassonne.
